[Video] Appreciating the Opportunity to Play Professional Basketball

Cathy Boswell is a former Olympian and high school, college and professional basketball player; she’s also a former college basketball coach and current high school coach. Cathy played professionally overseas for 28 years. Listen to her remarks about what it was like to play professionally.

Cathy Boswell graduated from Joliet West High School in Shorewood, Illinois. She then became a star at Illinois State University where she was the first Redbird to surpass 2,000 points. Cathy is the Illinois State record holder for field goals and rebounding average.

Cathy became an All-American in 1982 and 1983 and went on to win a gold medal for the USA Olympic Basketball Team in 1984.

Cathy Boswell is a four-time Hall of Fame Inductee, including Joliet West High School, Missouri Valley Conference, Illinois State University, and the National Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

Cathy played professionally in Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, Brazil and the United States.

Cathy also coached at every level: professionally, collegiately (including at her alma mater, Illinois State) and high school.
