[Video] Advice to Share With Your Daughter About the Recruiting Process

The recruiting process is hard. It’s hard on your daughter, and it is hard on you, the parent.

Every second and every decision matters when you are preparing for, and traveling through, the recruiting process.

There are times when nothing makes sense or you just can’t find the right answers to your questions. That is because every recruiting journey is different, and every situation is different.

However, one thing remains. You, as the parent, are the #1 advocate for your daughter. You have the ability to show the most love and support throughout the process.

For student-athletes who are lucky enough to have a strong support system in place, they can usually withstand uncertain times. You are the supportive rock they depend on.

Just listen to former college athlete, college coach, and Olympian runner, Francie Larrieu Smith. Francie has one of the longest distance running careers in the history of running. She placed in several Olympic distance-running events and, at the 1992 Summer Olympics, Francie was selected to be the flagbearer for the opening ceremonies.

She competed in the Olympics in 1972, 1976, 1982 (boycotted), 1988, and 1992.

Francie has coached and mentored thousands of athletes, and, though her sport is running, her message applies to all athletes, at all levels of any sport, and to parents of athletes.
