Find My Team Attends Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Action Summit

Find My Team founder, Barb Smith, spent Friday participating in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Action Summit. Many participants gathered to discuss the issues, challenges, and struggles concerning DEI with leadership, organizations, and teams. After some opening remarks and some background information, there were breakout groups where real issues were discussed and real actionable plans formulated.

“It was a fascinating and inspiring session where I was able to meet and work with people who are all striving, on teams and in organizations, for progress in the DEI space. We all have a role to play, and there is lots of work to be done. Most importantly, we can all make a difference.” – Barb Smith

Some Takeaways:

The process of DEI:

  1. Assessing the situation
  2. Identify the issue or challenge; what would you like resolved?
  3. Strategizing with action steps
  4. Modifying
  5. Integrating
  6. Evaluating

The more iterations we perform in this process, the better the outcomes that follow.

There are many roles in DEI:

  1. Facilitators
  2. Strategists
  3. Thought Partners
  4. Leaders
  5. Advocates
  6. Champions
  7. Consultants

Which role you play is based on your knowledge, leadership, experiences, and willingness to bring about positive change.
